Parental Consent Policy

Dear Parent/Legal Guardian:

Pilgrim’s Rock LLC is using Moodle software https://courses.pilgrimsrock.com to present and teach online courses we offer as part of our Services. The privacy of your child’s information is very important to us. Pilgrim’s Rock, LLC will only collect and retain enough personal information to register a child for a course, bill or record payment for the course, and allow communication with the child, parent or legal guardian on matters related to the course.

Congress enacted the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) in 1998. COPPA required the Federal Trade Commission to issue and enforce regulations concerning children’s online privacy. The Commission’s original COPPA Rule became effective on April 21, 2000. The Commission issued an amended Rule on December 19, 2012. The amended Rule will become effective on July 1, 2013.

COPPA governs online resources offered to children. Because your child is either under 13 years of age (this form is required) or under 18 years of age (this form is suggested), your child’s access to Moodle software and the Services provided by Pilgrim’s Rock, LLC requires your permission. We are requesting your permission for your child to fully participate and use all services and features of Moodle software and the Services provided by Pilgrim’s Rock, LLC.

Please read the Pilgrim’s Rock, LLC’s Privacy Policy and the Terms and Conditions of Service for more information on the Services and collection, use of, and details about information collected from users, including your minor child.

With your approval, your child will be provided a link to create a user account and password through the Moodle software provided by Pilgrim’s Rock, LLC on the website, https://courses.pilgrimsrock.com and then your child will be invited to the course you have purchased. Your child’s participation and registration in a course provided by Pilgrim’s Rock, LLC via the Moodle software will require his/her information to be collected and processed in the United States per the Terms and Conditions of Service and Privacy Policy of Pilgrim’s Rock, LLC.

If you do NOT APPROVE or CONSENT to your child’s use of all Services and software used to provide Services, you must contact Pilgrim’s Rock LLC in writing via email: courses@pilgrimsrock.com to ask for a refund of the course you purchased per the terms of the refund policy. Your child will not be invited to begin a course until you have read and agreed to:
a) The COPPA Parental Consent
b) The Terms and Conditions of Service
c) The Privacy Policy
and your electronically signed, dated parental consent form below has been received and is on file with Pilgrim’s Rock, LLC.

Some of the features of the Moodle software will enable your child to share personal information, we encourage you to monitor and supervise your child’s internet activities during his/her use of Services and the Moodle software offered/provided by Pilgrim’s Rock, LLC. You may, for example, want to set rules for your child about whom they can talk to and what general discussion topics are appropriate, and what personal information, if any, is appropriate to share. Please teach and remind your child to be cautious regarding the posting of personal information such as name, telephone number or e-mail on any website.
